Similar in design to their original JK Habitat, this could be a game changer for those wishing to outfit their Tacoma for extreme overland travel. For those looking for something more than a Roof Top Tent, but don't require the full commitment of a slide-in camper, the Tacoma Habitat may be the perfect solution.
The fold-out tent is manufactured by Nemo Equipment exclusively for this application. It's waterproof, breathable, and is rated for four-season use. The sleeping platform folds out over the rear of the truck so it provides a natural awning, and is supported by 6061 aluminum rods.

While the Habitat provides ultimate functionality, it will not bust your GVWR as it only weighs in at 340lbs, not much more than some RTTs. When deployed, the unit covers a full 15 feet from the rear of the cab to the end of the tent overhang. Two adults can compfortably sleep in the tent area while leaving the bed of the truck available for gear, cooking, or a game of cards while you wait out the rain.
Pricing starts at $7,900 for the base unit, with plenty of options available to meet your custom requirements. According to AT, production on the 6' models will begin in mid-March 2016.
