You’ll read much more about the event when our full article comes out in the October issue, but for now we wanted to share some of our most interesting photos and the stories behind them.
Dennis was everywhere duing this event! In town around HQ, Imogene Pass, Black Bear Pass, at the parties, you name it - he covered it!
Bob & Kayla had a chance to join Bobby Culpepper from CVT (Cascadia Vehicle Tents) on a run up & over Imogene Pass, which seemed to be one of the most popular trails this year. Angie took the 4Runner over when she led a ladies run, and Dennis enjoyed a night run to the top of Imogene.
The Wall on Poughkeepsie Gulch was a pretty tough obstacle on Saturday due to nearly 2” of rain falling overnight and in the morning. The guys from Fort’s Toyota made it look easy in their 4Runner though. Unfortunately another 4Runner wasn’t as successful when trying the harder line. Everyone was OK and the truck drove just fine after the flop.
For Shane, Angie & the family, this was a special FJ Summit: the first without the TRD FJC (which Kayla drove expertly on Poughkeepsie), and the first WITH the SEMA 4Runner. The 4Runner (the same that adorns our July cover) performed flawlessly on both Imogene Pass and Mineral Creek.
We even had the opportunity to test drive Apollo, one of the Expedition Overland 2015 4Runners!
Also new for this Summit: the TCT Explorer! Jim Akers took the truck over to Ouray, then over the more-difficult-than-normal Imogene Pass. The truck had no issues with the rutted out sections of the trail and made it into Telluride before lunch!
Lining up for the epic end-of-summit group photo!
Make your plans for July 2016 as we all once again head to Ouray for FJ Summit #10!
